Nsimbe unleashes KCC on South Africa champions SuperSport FC

CAF Champions League
SuperSport v KCC FC 9pm

UPHOLD your tactical discipline and keep calm under pressure.
That will certainly be KCC FC head coach George Nsimbe’s precise pre-match message before unleashing his youthful side for today’s high-profile return leg fixture against South African side SuperSport United at the Bidvest Stadium.

The talk has been done, promises been made and on a floodlit cold evening when the KCC faithful will be on the edge of their seats, Nsimbe’s youngsters will be under the strictest of orders not to wreck their 2-1 first leg advantage.

All Uganda’s continental representatives have to do tonight is win or craft a draw to guarantee progress to the third round of the MTN-sponsored tournament.

“We will change our approach and probably bring Omar Hitmana to add steel in the midfield since we expect them to come at us right from the start," Nsimbe said.

"We will have to be disciplined on the ball and limit their aerial game,” the KCC tactician explained yesterday.

It is certain that Nsimbe and his charges could have learnt from a few of their first-leg failures. Chief among them was the team’s frailties in closing down spaces down the full-back positions that enabled SuperSport to execute their wing-play that eventually resulted into Anthony Laffor’s opener.

“We will try to close all spaces and make the most of every counter opportunity we get,” KCC assistant coach Mujib Kasule stated.

At the 5000-capacity Bidvest Stadium, KCC’ togetherness, the desire to accept the ball in the tightest of situations, with colleagues always making space to help out will be extremely fundamental.

Club captain Sam Mubiru will shake each of his teammates hands by the hand, and where necessary offer words of encouragement.

The pain in SuperSport United’s ranks will stem from the lanky Glen Salmon, with the budding talents of Liberian winger Laffor and Dane Klate pivoting behind him. Mubiru and Moses Musoke will have to deliver their best performances yet to contain the three.

If the pair and Hitmana, if selected, can thwart the home side’s aerial and physical game, then attacking midfielders Patrick Ssenfuka and Anthony Bongole will prove dreadful and probably decisive in releasing forwards Brian Umony and Robert Ssentongo.

Ssentongo, a target for South African club Platinum Stars, will lead the lines in a 4-5-1 formation, with Umony, SuperSport’s main threat running in behind the home side’s back-four with hope of feeding off any lose ball.

KCC: B. Ochan, A. Kaya, S. Senoga, M. Musoke, S. Mubiru, O. Hitmana, A. Bongole, R. Kamoga, B. Umony, R. Ssentongo and P. Senfuka.
