Ekiring on test
BADMINTON-Africa top-ranked badminton player Edwin Ekiring’s status will be under scrutiny when he faces top players in the Africa Senior Badminton Championships in Nairobi later this month.
National coach Simon Mugabi yesterday said that Olympian Ekiring is expected to lead Uganda’s assault at the biennial event due April 17-21. He will come up against three top seeds including Algeria’s Nabir Lasmari, also the defending champion, Eli Mambwe (Zambia) and South African Christoffel Dednan.

BOU’s 5m boost
DARTS-Bank of Uganda has boosted the East Africa Darts Federation (EADF) championship with sh5m. The championship which will bring together top guns from Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda will be played over the Easter weekend in Jinja. Main sponsors Nile Breweries will unveil their package this week ahead of the tournament to be staged at source of the Nile at Garden Pub. EADF president Gordon Bamutura said the bank offer would take the game to greater heights.
