FOLLOWING the recent poor showing by SC Villa, fans are unhappy and have blamed team manager Chris Mubiru for their club’s misfortunes.
Fans have filed a host of allegations against Mubiru, accusing him of giving some of the team’s players preferential treatment and spoiling them. They claimed this has resulted into instability in the team set up.
In their’ three page hard-hitting letter signed by Samson Nsubuga, Med Sembajja, Sula Seguya, Geoffrey Kayemba and Hussein Wasajja, the fans ‘expelled’ Mubiru from the club.
“Mr. Mubiru you are expelled from the club (Villa). We further request FUFA to impose a life ban on you,†the letter said in part.
While they copied the letter to the Villa officials, the sports minister and National Council of Sports, Villa fans’ coordinator Dennis Mbidde rubbished the letter, saying they had no powers to sack any individual.
Mbidde insisted the fans were looking for a scapegoat.
“I have not seen the letter you are talking about, but in Villa we follow the rules. According to my knowledge no fan has a right to sack anyone,†he said.
Villa’s recent form has been worrying, as they struggled to a goalless draw against Boroboro at Namboole stadium, 1-1 draw away to Mbarara United and just managed an extra time 1-0 win against Maji at the same stadium in their last three games.
