Councillor held over defilement
PADER-The Police are holding the former secretary for education and health over allegedly defiling a 16-year-old girl. The district Police criminal investigations officer, George Willy Ochola, said Deogratious Obwor Deodoto was being held at the central Police station following his arrest on Friday. Ochola told The New Vision from his office recently that Obwor would be charged with defilement.

RDC calls for speedy works
AMURU-The resident district commissioner, Edwin Yakobo Komakech, has appealed to Atiak sub-county authorities to urgently re-roof Atiak Health Centre IV and Olya Primary School, which were damaged by a recent rain storm. Speaking at the handover of 200 iron sheets from the Government at the sub-county headquarters recently, Komakech advised residents who were still in the camps to return to their homes and engage in agriculture and other socio-economic activities for survival.

Clinical school gets equipment
GULU-AID Africa, an American-based NGO working to uplift the lives of the war victims, has donated two microscopes to Gulu Clinical Officers’ Training School. The equipment was handed over to the school principal tutor, Martin Onek, by the NGO’s president, Peter Keller, at the organisation’s head office recently. Keller said the donation was a gift from students at Occidental College in California, US. He promised more support.

Rebel impostor in Police custody
GULU-The Police are holding a man over posing as a Lord’s Resistance Army rebel collaborator. Andrew Opio handed in himself to local authorities in Lacor. They later took him to Gulu Police Station after realising that he was wanted by security officials. Opio said he had been sent to spy on a new prison facility to be used for holding rebel commanders.
