Koboko school closed
KOBOKO-Chief administrative officer Ismail Onzu has ordered the closure of Queen Victoria Primary School over what he described as operating below standard. “We can’t allow schools to operate as if they are markets. The school does not have enough teachers. It has one toilet that is shared by boys, girls, teachers and parents who stay nearby,” said Onzu. He was speaking at a meeting organised by Koboko Civil Society Network at the town hall on Friday. Onzu also told teachers to stop operating bars and video halls in school compounds.

Apac gets seedlings
APAC-The National Agricultural Advisory Services has delivered more than 4,000 seedlings of improved mangoes worth sh16m to farmers in Apac sub-county. Addressing the beneficiaries at the sub-county headquarters recently, sub-county chief Juliet Atoo said the seedlings were distributed to demonstration farmer groups in each parish. Atoo said the improved varieties were resistant to diseases and drought. She said the improved agro-forestry in the north was intended to boost household income. Atoo added that the farmers were also trained in better farming skills and given 1,000 modern beehives, wheelbarrows, spades and fence wires.
