UBA gets vote of confidence

LAST weekend’s Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) Badminton Open capped a great start to the year for the Uganda Badminton Association (UBA) as it was the third straight tournament to get full sponsorship.

LAST weekend’s Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) Badminton Open capped a great start to the year for the Uganda Badminton Association (UBA) as it was the third straight tournament to get full sponsorship.
According to UBA tournament director Simon Mugabi, this confirmed sponsors trust in the association and its youth development schedules.
“This is the third sponsor for the association this year and that alone shows that our commitment to the development of badminton has grown with our partners and we have been accountable,†UBA tournament director Simon Mugabi said. “We have a big pool of sponsors and we are welcoming two others this year. Tembo Company and Computer Point have also come on board.â€
Jimmy Okubi and Rita Namusisi claimed the men’s and women’s singles crowns respectively at the inaugural UCC championships that attracted 200 participants.
Mugabi stated that UBA’s record on accountability has attracted more sponsors and this has gone a long way in spreading the game in schools.
