Six new archdeaconries have been created in Kinkizi Diocese in Kanungu district.

Speaking during celebrations to mark the 14th anniversary of the diocese, Bishop John Wilson Ntegyereize said the move would take services nearer to the Christians.

Ntegyereize also commissioned 91 lay-readers who completed a two-year course in Bible studies. The bishop told the lay readers that the church was in their hands, arguing that they were serving people at the grassroots. He posted senior priests to the newly- formed archdeaconries.

The Rev. Can. Stephen Begumisa was posted to Kayonza Archdeaconry, the Rev. Enos Mukombe to Kanyantorogo and the Rev. Nathan Turyahikayo to Kihihi.

The Rev. Enos Komunda was appointed the dean of Nyakatare Cathedral.

Ntegyereize also announced that he had transferred reverends George Tibamwenda from Kishuro to Nyakabungo, Ephraim Muheirwe from the Bible College to Kishuro and Buregyeya from the Bible College to Kiruruma.

Others were John Ngyemura from the Bible College to Nyarurembo, Johnson Turyagyenda from Nyakinoni to the bishop’s office, Edward Maririre from Kiruruma to the bishop’s office.
