Children from the International School of Uganda (ISU) have started a 10,000 tree planting campaign to save the environment. Each child had to plant two to 20 trees. Pupils of Victory Kindergarten and Primary School, a school in the neighbourhood also joined them in the exercise.

They planted 4,000 trees at ISU, Blessed Primary School, Bright Primary School and Charity Primary School in Lubowa. Six thousand trees were planted in Mabira Forest along the Jinja Highway.

“The tree planting exercise is part of the celebrations to mark earth day at ISU,” Nadia Owuor, a student in the exercise said. Their slogan is “Yes we can protect the environment”.

The trees planted include pine, wood-lock, mvule, guavas, musizi, jack fruit, mangos and eucalyptus. Roofings Uganda Ltd donated some of the tree seedlings.
