THE chairman of the Kampala Region Super Mini League has warned that he will ban players who will ignore the league for the Masaza Cup.

Moses Magogo's warning comes after organisers of the Masaza event refused to postpone their fixtures on May 24.

Matches on this day, collide with the Super Mini League starting at Nakivubo today with KASE taking on Jogoo Young.

The Masaza event is organised by the sports ministry of Mengo-based Buganda Kingdom.

Magogo, who is also the FUFA Competitions Committee secretary, had advised his counterpart in the Masaza Cup David Katabira to postpone matches.

Magogo explained that this would enable the Mini League action to go on uninterrupted.

But appearing on a radio sports talk show in Kampala on Thursday, Katabira insisted that matches on May 24 will go on as planned.

Katabira said that games on May 17 had been called off.

Magogo argued that over 70 per cent of players in the Masaza come from the Kampala Clubs which are expected to take part in the mini league.

“The region (Kampala) will be most affected by the Masaza fixtures and after a formal arrangement to reserve the two weekends (May 17 and 24) for the mini leagues, this has been ignored by your committee,” Magogo said in a communication to Katabira.

Magogo said that players who will ignore the Mini League for the Masaza Cup risk being banned which he said is not a good situation.
