The district has appealed to the Office of the Prime Minister to provide food relief to the people whose crops have been destroyed by floods. The resident district commissioner, Michael Okiring Bwalatum, last week said the district had lost maize, beans and groundnuts crops to the floods. “Some of the crops were destroyed in the gardens, while what had been harvested also got rotten due to inadequate sunshine. The Government should come to our rescue.”

The Prime Minister’s office has launched an inter- agency committee to coordinate humanitarian activities aimed at helping victims of floods in Teso and Lango regions.
