Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has banned nine referees and two match commissioners for their dismal show in the Mainland’s mini and national leagues. TFF’s Fredrick Mwakalebela said they opted to met out the punishments after getting reports from commissioners. Veteran referee Israel Nkongo received a one-year ban after failing to control the mini League.
Sharapova chill
Russia easily recaptured the Fed Cup title from last year's surprise winners Italy by thrashing them 4-0 in the Moscow final over the weekend. Even without Maria Sharapova, who was nursing a shoulder injury, the Russians, led by world number two Svetlana Kuznetsova and fifth-ranked Anna Chakvetadze, were too strong for the Italians.
