UGANDAN custodian Denis Onyango hopes to maintain his man-of-the-match winning performances through the remainder of the PSL season in an attempt to claim the prestigious Goalkeeper of the season Award.

Onyango, who turns out for South African club Supersport United, helped his side to a decent goalless result against Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday at Loftus Stadium with a series of breath-taking saves that earned him the Man of the Match Award.

“If I can maintain my current form then I should be up there for it,” Onyango stressed.

The Cranes stopper pointed that he was happy with his improvement since returning from a serious knee injury operation before adding that his primary objective this season was to win the highly-coveted Goalkeeper of the Season Award.

“I have played two games since returning from injury, one, an international against Niger and the other against Jomo Cosmos and I am happy with the way I performed in both games.

“I am excited that I did not concede a goal against Chiefs and that motivates me to work harder.

“I’m disappointed that we did not collect maximum points from our home game, but the League has still long way to run and I’m confident that we’ll keep on improving,” he told Kick Off magazine. Onyango was Supersport United’s 2006/2007 player of the season.
