ROCKY Giant’s efforts on his debut eight-track album, Rafiki, won him two Pearl of Africa Music (PAM) Awards nods in the Best Hip-Hop Single and Best Hip-Hop Artiste categories this year.

And although he walked away empty-handed, Rocky is still ranked among the local Hip-Hop’s elites.

The title track, Rafiki, was the main reason for Rocky’s two PAM Award nods. On Rafiki, the budding rapper delivers complicated rhymes, while still sounding conversational. His songs are witty.

Rafiki will be released on CD on December 4. It features production talents of Alan Okia of D Records and Geoffrey and Aydee & Pato of Goodenuff Studios.

Other songs on his album include Gwabalaasi, Nikifika, Nani Wuyo, Chini Yawulinzi, Sitabadilika and Bla Bla.
Rocky Giant made himself a household name after he imported Bongo Flava, a music genre of a Tanzanian origin.

He has struggled to get recognition, rapping in Luganda and Kiswahili. It was his hit single, Rafiki, that pushed him to the limelight.
