UGANDAN teachers will compete with their counterparts in Africa for a $10,000 (about sh17.6m) prize for using creative methods to educate their students.

Nik Kafka, the director of Teach a Man to Fish, a UK-based charity, said the competition will be launched next week.

“The first Pan-African prize for entrepreneurial teachers will acknowledge the contribution teachers make towards improving the lives of their fellow Africans,” Kafka said in a statement last week.

The winners he said, will be selected against the criteria of innovation, impact, leadership and creative use of limited resources.

“The top three awardees will travel to Paraguay to receive their prizes at the Financially Self-Sufficient Schools’ Conference that will take place between December 4 and 6.”
