DETAILS emerging from National Council of Sports headquarters indicate that assistant general secretary Nicholas Muramagi has also been suspended. Muramagi was suspended together with his boss Jasper Aligawesa, to pave way for investigations over alleged abuse of office.

Justine Ligyalingi is now acting general secretary until the probe committee finalises investigations in five weeks time.

Information says that Muramagi, who has been coordinating the Coca Cola schools’ programme, has been suspended to allow thorough investigations in the deal, which has received criticism from most of the involved parties.

Coca Cola are the sponsors of the Schools Cricket Week, Sprite Basketball, soccer and rugby competitions for schools.

Muramagi will also be investigated over the Global Fund saga, in a bid to clear the council’s name.

“It was unfortunate that a council member leaked the information to the press. It will prejudice investigations of the case. This is a normal administrative situation we are doing,” said council chairman Anthony Katamba over the development.
