Barclays gives 2,500 nets

KAMPALA-Barclays Bank has donated 2,500 treated mosquito nets worth $50,000 (sh85m) to children and pregnant mothers in Makindye Division. Handing over the nets at Hope Clinic Lukuli, Michael Kaddu, Barclays head of corporate affairs, said the donation was part of a countrywide campaign, ‘Malaria No More.’ Meanwhile, the bank also donated over 100 blankets and 100 mosquito nets to malnourished children of Mulago Hospital’s Mwanamugimu Children’s ward. The donation was handed over to the hospital’s deputy director, Dr. Isaac Ezati, by manager Robert Warnock.

Hima treats 3,000 locals

KAMWENGE-Over 3,000 residents have received free treatment courtesy of Hima Cement. This took place at a medical camp at Rukunyu Primary School aimed at helping the poor access quality medical care. Hima’s human resource manager Steven Tio Kauma said: “We cannot sit back and watch our people especially those in the community in which we operate, die of treatable diseases.”

Waitress wins sh500,000

KAMPALA-A waitress with a Kampala International University hostel for females, Monica Nabukeera, has won sh500,000 from Unilever. Nabukeera’s coupon was picked in a raffle draw during the Fair and Lovely campus career promotion recently.
