UGANDA Christian University (UCU) has named its new $3m library after Ham Mukasa for his generous contribution towards the university.

Speaking during a corporate dinner at Kampala Serena Hotel recently, Prof. Steven Noll, the vice-chancellor, said Mukasa donated the land on which the university, that started as a theological college, was built.

A framed photo of Bishop Tucker, the founder of Bishop Tucker Theological College, was auctioned at sh6.4m.

A bible autographed by Anglican Archbishop Henry Luke Orombi and former archbishop of Canterbury Lord George Carey fetched sh600,000.
Orombi urged leaders to leave positive legacies behind, for which they can be remembered.

Carey urged the Government to make investment in higher education a priority.
He said: “A country that fails to prioritise higher education subjects its population to living in despair.”
