KRISTIAN von Hornsleth, the proprietor of the controversial pig/ goat-for-name project in Mukono district, has yielded to Government pressure and replaced the national colours painted on his office, reports Joel Ogwang.

Henry Hornsleth Kayondo, the Hornsleth village project manager, said this followed a recent meeting with Dr. James Nsaba Buturo, the ethics state minister.

“We had painted our office black, yellow and red but after a meeting with Buturo, we agreed to re-paint it. It now bears black and red colours.”

Kayondo said they had also suspended recruitment of more members at their office in Buteyongera village, Kasawo sub-county. “We have retained the 727 members we recruited early this year,” he told The New Vision on Thursday.

But Kayondo said they had not stopped giving out animals.

“Last week, we gave out 60 pigs and 20 goats. We will not stop (giving out animals).”

Buturo, however, accused Hornsleth of exploiting poor Ugandans.

“He is playing around with the dire needs of poor Ugandans to gain popularity.”

The minister said the Cabinet would discuss the controversial project.

“I will table the matter before the Cabinet. What will be agreed upon will be the Government position.”
