POLICE head coach Sam Timbe has been short-listed for the vacant coaching post at Tanzanian club Yanga. Yanga secretary Lucas Kisasa told the Tanzanian press yesterday that a replacement for Serbian coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic is being sought.

Micho, who helped SC Villa to the prestigious CECAFA club championship in 2003, parted ways with the Tanzanian club last week — a year since joining it from South Africa club Orlando Pirates.
Former Express coach Eddie May and Kenya’s Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulee are the other applicants for the position.

Timbe’s presence on the roster of targeted coaches will certainly unsettle Police, who have less than a fortnight to prepare for their opening fixture away to Iganga on November 4.

The Ugandan coach, who catapulted to the limelight after guiding both Villa and the cops to CECAFA club titles in consecutive seasons (2005, 2006) has however denied contact with Yanga.
