Tatiana uses her head-of-house powers to save Richard

IN what comprised a dramatic reversal during the Monday night nominations, Nigeria’s Ofunneka did not nominate Maureen like we all thought.

Instead, she went for Richard and Tatiana, housemates she has been so close to lately that she even made viewers detest her for sidelining Maureen, the only friend she has had throughout the show.
And that is how the Nigerian wants to beat us at our own game, and probably the entire Africa.

Just when we thought Africa would take it out on her for treating Maureen so coldly, she turns around and quashes the reason people would be pushing her down the drain. And everyone establishes a soft spot for her, saying she is sweet and has been true to Maureen throughout the game.

But in real sense, Ofunneka does not like Maureen, or worse still, hated her recently when she thought Maureen was being close to her to win favours. And if you asked her now, she would maintain her position.

It is just that Ofunneka is only being a strategist. After a thorough cost-benefit analysis, Ofunneka realised Maureen would ultimately be on the list of possible evictees either way, even minus her nomination. So why then waste a vote on Maureen, yet there was Richard and Tatiana, love birds who would not nominate each other at whatever cost.

And since the lovebirds’ inability to nominate each other left only Ofunneka and Maureen as the couple’s target, the Nigerian’s move was only viable, and could not have been aimed at saving Maureen, but rather, look out for herself. And that is how Maureen survived her.

And like Ofunneka analysed it, the Richiana couple nominated her. But since she had also done the same to them, she had nothing to lose, but thump her chest for a decision well-made.
In a nutshell, Maureen, Ofunneka and Tatiana are up for possible eviction come Sunday, making Tanzania’s Richard a finalist by default.

Tatiana refused to use her powers as the head of house to save herself because her heartthrob Richard, who was the only available person for replacement, has been nominated many times. So she decided to face the voters.

The nominations for the other housemates went as follows: Richard nominated Maureen and Ofunneka, saying Maureen is having problems, trying to get attention from the other housemates.

Then his reason of nominating Ofunneka was that he could not nominate Tatiana, though Ofunneka is his friend.
Maureen’s reason of nominating Ofunneka was sound.

She said Ofunneka had changed and that much as she refused to tell the Ugandan how she wronged her, she has gone ahead to make her pay for whatever it is that she did, which is making Maureen uncomfortable.

Then she nominated Tatiana because she would be able to save herself as head of house.
As usual, we have to look out for our girl.

And believe it, Tatiana is something close to invincibility. So we cannot manage trying to fight her. In the first place there is no reason for voting her out. The votes are going to be divided between Maureen and Ofunneka.

And of course we cannot vote Maureen out after she has gone all the way and even made it beyond Gaetano’s level in the first episode. Evict Ofunneka, vote now. Type Vote Ofunneka and send to 15626 (MTN), 5626 (utl), 0903015626 (Celtel). You can also vote online at

www.mnetafrica.co.za/bigbrother. Maureen seems to be in trouble. But we can still bank on a miracle. And the count-down timer shows the finale is only 17 days away, who knows?
