KENYAN coach Smarts Olumbo turned the Mogas Falcons into a lean machine to help them level the best of three play-off semi-final series against the UCU Canons to 1-all with an 80 – 69 victory on Wednesday. Falcon’s Walter Alenyo paid tribute to the Kenyan.

“The team played with heart but the coach was the brain”.
Olumbo’s inspiration clearly rubbed off Henry Malinga, who made 15 points in the first quarter alone, in contrast to the single point he made during the entire first game. Team captain Eric Malinga, scored a game-high 25 to keep his team in the championship hunt.

“All I did was to remind the players what they are capable of doing. In other words, I gave them the confidence to play to their strengths,” remarked the content Olumbo after the game.
The Canons’ coach Jason Mehl said the defeat could not be a surprise.
“You can’t say that losing to a good side is a surprise,” he stated.

The Canons must now return to the drawing board and look for a way past the Falcons who broke through their typical press with alarming effect.
Meanwhile, the KCC Leopards made it through to women’s final with a two game sweep over the Canon Ladies. KCC Lions also secured promotion to the first division with the same winning margin.

Today, it is a must-win situation for Sadolin Power in game two of their best of three play-off semi-finals against Kyambogo Warriors. The two-time champions must somehow make up for their 106 – 69 game one thrashing to deny Warriors an early entry into their first ever final.
