Airtime was not free!

I am very surprised that some Ugandans are fussing over the Communications Commission’s decision to scrap the so-called free airtime that was being offered by MTN, Celtel and utl. Why the fuss?

Who in this country can give free things to customers? In order to get the 50% bonus, you must buy airtime and when you try to utilise it, the network is so busy only a few people are able to get through!

Can’t any ordinary person really see that it is the service provider making 100% benefit from the airtime bought while the buyer goes away with 0% if you quantify the inconvenience? It is a great relief the ‘free’ airtime has been scrapped.
