POSTBank has so far given out 584 motorcycles worth sh1.3b to 17 savings and credit cooperatives (SACCOs). During the hand-over of 34 motorcycles to Ssisa Multi Purpose Co-operative Society in Wakiso, Albert Barekye, a senior manager with PostBank, said the project aims at reducing poverty.

“With increased traffic jams, bodaboda transport is still on high demand. We are optimistic the programme will promote transport, hence generating income to operators for repayment of the loans and earning a living,” Barekye said.

Rosemary Senninde, the Wakiso Woman MP, told the beneficiaries to put the motorcycles to proper use.

“When these motorcycles are properly handled, they will produce others in less than one year.” Senninde stood surety for the SACCO.
