THE Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) has entered an agreement with kit manufacturers, PUMA, to dress the national team to next year’s Olympic Games in Beijing.

THE Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) has entered an agreement with kit manufacturers, PUMA, to dress the national team to next year’s Olympic Games in Beijing, Norman Katende reports.

UOC president Maj. Gen. Francis Nyangweso has revealed that the deal was signed early this year and samples of the uniforms have been approved.

The samples are in Uganda’s traditional red tops and black bottoms with golden yellow and red strips running down on the right hand sides.

“We are now assured of uniforms that will be prepared in time,” said Nyangweso.
The Germany-based kit manufacturer had been approached to dress the national team to the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne in a last minute move, but also dressed the national team to the All Africa Games.

They will offer a full set of uniforms that includes shorts, briefs, warm-up jackets, pants and tights, Polo T-shirts, split shorts, singlet, casuals and official T-shirts.

PUMA has been the official kit sponsors for the local athletics team for the past five years.

Federations that have the potential of qualifying athletes to the games have been asked to send representatives so that they form a preparatory committee for the games.
