SAMEER Agriculture and Livestock, the producers of Fresh Dairy milk and other milk products, has earmarked $15m (about sh26.1b) for increasing milk production, writes Francis Emorut.

A.G.Gaggar, the managing director, said the firm was in the process of purchasing a milk plant that would produce 200,000 litres of milk daily from 75,000.

Gaggar said the project would kick off in January 2008.

“This means Uganda will be having enough milk for consumption and for export,” Gaggar said during an exhibition to promote Ugandan products at the Uganda Manufacturers’ Association in Lugogo, Kampala.

He said the firm has registered 15,000 livestock farmers and with the new project, the number would increase to 50,000.

Gaggar said the company would also produce more Dairy products.
