Nakaseke locals detained
Luweero
Court has remanded three Nakaseke residents in relation to the theft of a microscope belonging to Nakaseke Hospital. The sh2m microscope was recently recovered from a ceiling at a commercial building in Nakaseke trading centre, a few days after it was reported missing. Prosecution alleged that Kasule Muhammed, Joseph Mukasa and Vareriano Etyang, a watchman at the hospital, stole the microscope on August 26. Dr. Emmanual Mukuynya, the hospital’s medical superintendent, said Etyang had the keys to the laboratory on the night of the robbery. Edward Mulagula, a detective attached to Nakaseke Police Post, said the microscope was found in Kasule’s building. Court adjourned the case to November 27.

Reports used to wrap food
Masaka
The senior inspector of the Ministry of Local Government, Abuvalle Kasigwa, is concerned about the rate at which workshop reports are used to wrap foodstuffs. He said Lira district officials found vital documents being used by food vendors to wrap chapatti and pancakes. Kasigwa was speaking during a workshop on property tax at Hotel Brovad yesterday. He said the district officials dump workshop materials after conferences. ‘It is a shame that officials have lost interest in reading workshop material.”
