EIGHT districts in the north and north-eastern parts of the country will not get the next disbursement of funds from the Northern Uganda Social Action Fund (NUSAF) for failure to account for over sh5.5b.

The districts had not accounted for the funds for over six months.

The NUSAF information, education and communication specialist, Martin Okumu, said a nine-man team had been formed to help the communities account for the money.

Okumu said the districts, which had not accounted for the funds, included Adjumani sh34.7m, Apac sh730m, Gulu sh668.8m, Katakwi sh367.5m and Kotido sh1.19b.

The other districts were Moroto with sh1.18b, Nakapiripirit sh1.31b and Yumbe sh220m.

“Districts like Arua, Kaberamaido, Kitgum, Kumi, Lira, Moyo, Nebbi, Pader, Pallisa and Soroti had tried to account for some of the funds they received,” Okumu said.

He appealed to the community sub-project leaders to cooperate with the NUSAF officials in accounting for the money so that they get more funds.
