DUE to a long break expected during the Challenge Cup next month, the soccer Super League will continue during CHOGM week. FUFA president Lawrence Mulindwa said he had advised the league committee to go ahead with this week’s fixtures despite fears CHOGM activities might disrupt them.

“Clubs should continue preparing for the matches, the government wants some activities like football to go on during CHOGM, this is not a demonstration or a strike but a game,” Mulindwa state.

“The matches are going to be played as there is no time to waste. If we stop now because of CHOGM, yet we also have CECAFA then when shall we complete the league?”

Mulindwa also revealed that the Cranes technical committee is going to revise the list of players training for the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup that starts December 8 in Tanzania.

He said training will be non-residential, so only players actively playing for their clubs and are actually playing well, are deemed fit to be included. Past form will not count and players who are nursing injuries, will be dropped.

The committee meets this weekend to officially introduce new assistant coach Sam Ssimbwa.
