THE president of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Dr. Kizza Besigye, will visit Bugweri county in Iganga district for two days.

Abdu Katuntu, the FDC candidate in the Bugweri parliamentary bye-election, said the public had asked Besigye to visit the area.

“Besigye is not coming to Bugweri to gunner support for me. I am popular enough. Hosting him will satisfy the long-standing wishes of the voters,” Katuntu said without specifying the days.

Addressing a rally over the weekend in Nakibweru village, Buyanga sub-county, Katuntu said the NRM big-wigs were restless after realising that Kivejinja was unpopular in the area and it was time for him to retire from active politics.

“These strangers coming to Bugweri to campaign for Kivejinja have a lot of money. This is a festive season for the people of Bugweri. You should explore it.

“I appeal to you to take every penny these strangers are discreetly giving out in a bid to influence you to vote for Kivejinja, but maintain your stance by voting for Katuntu.”
