IT is the time to give again. What a happy thought, especially when you know what you will give who. If you do not know yet, do not fret. We roamed the streets for you and bring you some of what there is to give.

For your husband:
Has the ring finger grown too big for the wedding ring over the years? Buy him a replica that fits better. do not try to buy him a gift that will eventually prove more useful to you, for example a sweater or woolen scarf.

Go for something that will leave no doubt it was him you had in mind when choosing it. A gadget like an accessory for his computer, expensive shoes or truely masculine perfume would suffice.

Gifts and More at Garden city has very classy men’s gifts like tie sets, watches and wallets. The prices are on the higher side but hey, the man meets the bills all-year-round, so just spoil him this once.

Your wife:
This year around, the gift you choose should be hers not the family’s. Instead of a blender for the kitchen, get her something more personal. A car kit (car toilet bag equivalent) to hold her tax tickets, parking stickers, makeup compact and other loose tit bits would be a good idea.

Just choose a feminine coloured one from the car accessory dealers. Remember the random gifts of your courting days? Go get her one of those pendants, pretty watches or even a get away ticket to one of the islands.

For the children:
A fun trip to an amusement park always wins the day but there are other options, for example piggy banks, board games like scrabble and interactive toys for example this remote controlled car from Aristoc Booklex.

You will get a good scrabble game pack for sh35,000 in any of the supermarkets and yes, the toy sections are already overwhelmingly laden with gifts.

Just visit the nearest supermarket.
More in keeping with the theme for the season, buy your little one a children’s bible. You will be able to get an attracively illustrated bible story book written in the simplest of languages from the bookshops for about sh20,000.

For a boyfriend:
Someone else is certainly going to buy him a tie, wallet or cufflinks. Why don’t you take him into the intimate world of fragrance by buying him a designer perfume? An expensive shirt for a dress up occasion will certainly be appreciated.

For mama:
Every woman deserves a luxurious bed so treat your mother to some fine bed linen. A set having a duvet cover, bed sheets and pillow cases goes for sh50,000 in the shops on Mukwano Arcade downtown or sh300,000 from the upmarket shops and supermarkets. The quality of course varies with the price.

For papa:
How about a towelling robe for your old man? For sh30,000 or more, you can get one from the up town supermarkets like Uchumi. Comfortable african style sandals would also be appropriate. At the african village and crafts village on Buganda Road, you will get a good pair for sh25,000 or slightly more.

For a brother:
Get your brother this pocket friendly set of a tie, cufflinks and coat handkerchief. You will get one at about sh20,000 to sh25,000, in supermarkets and boutiques.

If he is a teenager or in his early 20s, the wallet should be of a casual fabric like jeans material. Better still, just steer away from them and get him a shirt with those designer labels. Do not worry, those Sean Jean replica shirts go for anything from sh15,000 at Mutaasa Kafeero Plaza.

For girlfriend:
A painted portrait
Whether it is her photograph mounted on a hard wood frame or a painting of her done by an artist, this will be a very unique and personal gift. The photograph portrait will cost sh60,000 in any one of Kampala’s top photo studios, while an artist will paint one at sh25,000 or more depending on which art gallery you go to.

Jewellery
Combine pretty with practical by getting her a fine set of jewellery containing a watch, necklace, bracelets, earrings and a ring. At sh45,000 a set from Jazz Supermarket in Bugolobi, it is a bargain.

If you are thinking of buying clothes, treat her to something as luxurious as a silk blouse or satin nightwear. Satin nightwear will go for sh25,000 on Mutaasa Kafeero and sh140,000 in Woolworths.

For a girl pal or sister:
Get her an elaborate and tasteful set of African beaded jewellery. Warning; picking the right kind can be a trick so if you do not want to take the risk, dash to Quality supermarket in Ntinda and get her one of their cute and very feminine designer wallets going for sh18,000. Talking about getting her something to carry her tit bits in, wouldn,t it be nice to get her a handbag? They come in all types, sizes and prices so with these, you will only be spoilt for choice regardless of where you shop.

For a male friend:
Keep it simple with a business card holder, a desk organiser or a business diary. These are widely available at varying prices.
Give. give and sit back waiting to receive. Have a lovely Christmas.
