NOBODY will become a Bugweri MP through rigging, an aspirant has said. “Whoever dares to illegitimately assume the seat should stand warned that the option is short-lived. He will lose it unceremoniously,” Abdu Katuntu recently told a rally at Busembatia town in Iganga district.

“I will always freeze him to the extent that he will shift uncomfortably on the supreme seat. Those doubting this ought to consult Kivejinja.”

Kirunda Kivejinja, the information minister, lost the seat after the Supreme Court agreed with Katuntu that Kivejinja intimidated and bribed voters in the 2006 elections

Katuntu told the rally that dishonesty was very costly. “My brother Kivejinja must be restless now because court awarded me damages worth hefty sums of money, which he has not yet paid,” he said, without disclosing the amount.

“If you want to become leader, identify with the people and work for their development. They will automatically rally behind you. You should not snatch victory using crude means.”
