THE senior presidential adviser on political affairs, Maj. Roland Kakooza Mutale, has advised the people of Bugweri to respect the biblical parable of the talents when they cast their votes on Thursday.

Referring to Matthew’s Gospel, Mutale said those with plenty shall have more added unto them, while for the poor, even the little will be taken away.

“It therefore follows that time has come to remove from Abdu Katuntu the few votes you gave him in 2006 and give everything to Kirunda Kivejinja,” he told a rally at Butende Primary School in Iganga on Wednesday.

Mutale said the contest between Katuntu (FDC) and Kivejinja (NRM) was not merely a battle of individuals but a party contest.

He said voters should make a statement about NRM’s popularity during the Thursday polls.

“Let us look at something like 100% for Kivejinja and 0% for Katuntu. This would mean that if last time we buried him near the surface, this time it will be 50 feet or more below the ground, so that his resurrection would be impossible.”

He also dismissed the other contestants.

“This race is about Kivejinja and Katuntu and no other aspirant.

“A by-election means the Electoral Commission just told these two to repeat their earlier polling exercise and not what it has turned out to be with everyone hurrying to participate.”

The other candidates are Shaban Nkuutu, Kalamawo Menya, Samuel Kakaire, Godfrey Nabongo and Solomon Nabeeta.

Mutale compared them to P.6 pupils who rush to sit for Primary Leaving Examinations just because two P.7 candidates had been asked to re-sit their examinations.

“The actual elections will be there is 2011, so let all those others come and contest then.

Kivejinja cautioned adults against sending children to yell at him when he is on the campaign trail.

“One wonders why they use children. Why can’t they be bold enough and come out?”
