Byamukama, who is the national golf champion and stroke play leader, will meet his nearest challenger Mugisha in what is expected to be a hotly-contested duel.

“I am looking forward to meeting him and battling him on the course. I know he will give me a good challenge in the tournament,” Mugisha said. “I have been training hard and I know the course layout and I want to win this tournament and also gain enough points on the leader board.”

Mugisha, 22, is the winner of the Crane Bank Kigezi Open and also finished second in the Western Open in March and has 15 points, one short of Byamukama in the stroke-play rankings.
The two youngsters are poised to play in the same group which will put them in the spotlight at the event.

“I will be seeking to take a lead on the opening day of action because it gives you ground to calculate your game the following day but at the same time I will take caution,” Mugisha said.

“While I will be seeking for glory, we at Tooro golf club also work as a team and my colleagues will motivate each other.” Eskom have sunk sh25m into the two-day tournament that will attract over 124 golfers from all over the country.
