YOUR article, “Japadhola reject two new districts” warrants a comment. The Japadhola ought to know that Tororo district comprises of many other important tribes some of whom have suffered a considerable and unfair level of marginalisation in the current set up of local government and national resources.

They have rightly demanded for this district split for a long time (indeed over eight years).

The Emorimor cultural institution (Tororo Chapter) should take great exception to the argument advanced by Mr. Tanga Odoi in the article, including a threat of war. He should be summoned to the Criminal investigations department to explain further his threat.

The alluded value of historical identity applies across the board to all tribes and all one needs to do is move around the current Tororo county to appreciate that it is too huge an area and deserves its own district administration.

The creation of these districts is long overdue and is the best option in addressing the current multi-dimensional friction in the area. The best and practical thing to do now is prepare the political and administrative human resources to develop the new districts and stop other irrelevant threats attributed to the article.

The new districts will not stop the people there from intermarrying or relating to one another.
