Three people, including a student, died in separate accidents in Kayunga district last week. Those who died included Ronald Lubega, a resident of Ntenjeru village, who was knocked down by a car on Thursday near the district headquarters in Ntenjeru on Kayunga-Bbaale road.

The accident was caused by a truck as its driver tried to save a lame man who was sleeping in his wheelchair in the road.

Milly Namatovu, an employee of Protecting Families Against HIV/AIDS, an NGO, died on Wednesday in an accident at Kyampisi village on Kayunga-Njeru road.

Namatovu fell off a motorcycle and was run over by a speeding truck. Samson Saka, a Senior Three student of Namagabi Secondary School, was killed on Friday morning by a speeding tax when she fell on the road following an epilepsy attack.

The district Police commander, Charles Nuwagira, attributed the accidents to reckless driving and speeding. He warned drivers to follow traffic laws to reduce accidents.
