The energy ministry has embarked on a campaign against power theft. Addressing journalists during the launch yesterday, the director of energy and mineral development, Eng. Paul Mubiru, said the country loses 36% in every 100 units of power during distribution.

This comes after reports that the country is losing about sh200b annually over poor management of the sector. The Electricity Regulatory Authority boss, Eng. Frank Ssebowa, told Parliament recently that one percentage unit lost was valued at $3m (about sh6b) per year.
