What has sex got to do with Kenya’s politics?

I have read, though belatedly, with shock, pain and amazement at what is happening in families in Kenya. On may 28, The new Vision published a story entitled, “Kenyan men start 30 days sex strike”.

I have read, though belatedly, with shock, pain and amazement at what is happening in families in Kenya. On may 28, The new Vision published a story entitled, “Kenyan men start 30 days sex strike”.

The 30-day sex boycott was meant to protest abuse of the Kenyan men’s rights by women. It is alleged that earlier Kenyan women had gone on a one-week sex boycott protesting the slow pace of reforms by the coalition government and rampant corruption.

Good cause indeed! But what does sex have to do with it? According to God’s law and most of our cultures, sex is supposed to be enjoyed in a marriage relationship. Marriage is not a political convenience partnership but a divine institution.

The Bible says that for that a man will leave his family and be joined to his wife and they shall become one.

And whatever God has put together let no man put asunder.
No one is responsible for the coming together of spouses except God and the spouses themselves.

Therefore no political figure, force or organisation has a right to cause or to stop sex between husband and wife or partners. Where do those women and men who take it upon themselves to call for organised sex boycott get that authority from?
