IT is around this time of the year when candidates in P.7, S.4, and S.6 get ready for mock exams. Many students believe that mock exams are tough and they end up being ‘mocked’ by them. Don’t let these mocks mock you.

Tips to pass your mocks:

  • Do not fear. If you must excel free your mind before you study and be confident that the time you have spent studying will fetch you good grades.

  • Prepare a timetable before starting the study. Prioritise your subjects according to your ability. Tough subjects can be given more time and easier ones less.

  • Relax: Studying without moments of relaxation will wear you out.

  • Select a proper environment for studying. Find a place where you are comfortable and utilise morning hours when the surrounding is still quiet for maximum concentration.

  • Don’t study on a bed or lying on the chair. Keep your spinal cord straight.
  • Raise your legs a little from the ground because direct contact with the ground causes ionisation which may induce sleep. However, don’t raise your legs very high as this may affect the proper blood flow and also cause sleepiness.

  • Make brief notes in form of points. This helps you to keep track of what you are reading and to remember what you have read.

  • Get enough sleep. Deprivation is dangerous when you are preparing for an exam. Researchers say one must not sleep for less than six hours.

  • Utilise your day time such that you do not have to extend in the night.

  • Mind your diet. You must have food according to your routine. Don’t fast on examination day. This may have adverse effect on your exam.

  • Take a glass of water before you go to bed, to keep your brain cells alert.

  • Presentation: Mastering the content in your subjects and presenting it are two different things. Present your work in a good handwriting. Space your letters to enable the examiner read it.

  • It is dangerous to expect marks out of cheating. Be honest and avoid examination malpractice.

  • Pray and give immense energy and peace to your mind before the examination. Believe in yourself. Be confident about what you can do. You will always produce the best results.

  • Success in your mock exams!
