PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has denied knowledge of the sale of Entebbe International Airport .

Answering questions from journalists at the ongoing Smart Partnership dialogue yesterday, Museveni clarified that a foreign group had come up with a proposal to redevelop the airport.

Dodsal Group, registered in the British Virgin Islands, but based in the United Arab Emirates, last year floated a proposal to re-develop the airport, the major air gateway to Uganda. They were reportedly recommended by former investment state minister Ssemakula Kiwanuka.

A website, www.ugandapstf.org, with a State House logo, is running a statement quoting Museveni as saying he held an introductory meeting with the prospective investors.

“They presented their proposals which were forwarded on to John Nasasira (works minister) for further study. Nothing conclusive was agreed,” Museveni said.

“I have read with dismay the letter from Mr. Kiwanuka to Mr. Nasasira. This letter does not in any way represent my instructions or common logic and it is not a letter expected of a Cabinet minister of Kiwanuka’s calibre.”

State House officials confirmed knowledge of the site. The official State House website is www.statehouse.go.ug.
