UGANDAN investors should go to Zambia and exploit the investment opportunities there, the Zambian president, Rupiah Banda, has suggested.

UGANDAN investors should go to Zambia and exploit the investment opportunities there, the Zambian president, Rupiah Banda, has suggested, write Kiganda Ssonko and Chris Omony.

Banda said this during a tour of Oasis Shopping Mall and Laburnam Apartments in Nakasero.

Oasis Shopping Mall houses Nakumatt Supermarket, banks and other prominent businesses, while Laburnam Apartments has 150 furnished apartments. The two multi-billion projects were developed by Hajati Amina Hersi, a Kenyan investor with businesses all over the Great Lakes region.

“The work done by Amina works as a business role model for not only Uganda but Africa at large. We need many of such investors as Africa and we, in government, should help them succeed,” Banda said at Laburnam Apartments.

He added: “Zambia is open for such investments. We have a shortfall of hotels, housing apartments, shopping malls and many other sectors, which Ugandan businessmen can exploit extensively.”

Banda said African countries have strong investors in their midst that only need motivation and incentives.
