BEFORE Sunday’s cricket league match, Africa Cricket Club’s Junior Kwebiiha had only one wicket to his credit and 32 runs. No one could place a bet he would be the man to down high riding champions Tornado in the Castle Premier League.

But the Africa CC skipper batted with calmness, putting on a half century before he was bowled by on-form Akbar Baig (3 wickets for 41 runs) at 55. He was adding on a solid foundation laid by Davis Turinawe (42), as Africa CC set Tornado a target of 207 to chase.

Benjamin Musoke hit an unbeaten 98 with 13 boundaries and Baig added 24 before Kwebiiha returned with the ball to claim three wickets for 44.

Dennis Tabby, Ezra Mindiyo and Amos Kyazze mounted more pressure, as they also picked two wickets each, ensuring that Tornado were all out at 39.2 overs and their first loss this season.

Tornado still remains on top of the table with a better run rate compared to second placed Nile Cricket Club.

Tornado B was done more damage after they lost to KICC by 73 runs.

In the plate league, national U-19 star Yakoub Ahmed hit a quick 64 from 32 balls as his side Charity humbled a star-studded Premier by four wickets at Budo.

Chasing a target of 144 runs, after national stars Daniel Ruyange (00), Lawrence Ssematimba (04) and Emmanuel Nakaana (36), had failed to lift Premier, Ahmed hit eight boundaries and three sixes and Jonathan Ssebanja added 24 as Charity overhauled the game in their favour.
