Kakooza thrilled
A motorcycle belonging to the National Resistance Movement (NRM) mobilisation team in Kiboga district left state minister for primary healthcare James Kakooza fascinated. The motorcycle, which had been parked at Ntwetwe Health Centre 1V, was painted in the party colour, yellow, with the acronym “NRM”. Kakooza, who was inspecting the centre with state minister for microfinance, Ruth Nankabirwa, called for the owner and gave him sh20,000. He instructed the man to campaign for a fourth term for President Yoweri Museveni and another term for Nankabirwa.

Mallinga confesses
Health minister Stephen Malinga is the best person to advocate for breast milk since he benefited from it. “I was breastfed. I would go to school and when I would feel hungry I would go home and demand for the breast,” Malinga said at a breakfast meeting held at the Imperial Royale Hotel last Thursday, to mark the end of the Breastfeeding Week. Malinga says he suckled the left breast more, a statement that left many guests amused.

Kawooya advocates

Apprehension seems to engulf most power consumers at the sight of UMEME officials, but for Sembabule district woman MP, Anifa Kawooya, the reverse is true. At a meeting recently, Kawooya told energy and mineral development minister Hillary Onek as well as other MPs that when the UMEME officials look at her they say: “You can pay what you can madam.” Kawooya advocated for the termination of UMEME’s contract, saying the company had failed to control energy losses.

‘Excel in everything’

At the commissioning of a classroom block for Luzira Senior Secondary School recently, the deputy attorney general, Fred Ruhindi, quoted a verse from the Bible about Jesus cursing a fig tree that refused to bear fruit. Ruhindi, the area MP, advised students to excel in whatever they do, saying even God does not like average people. “Why do you settle for mediocrity when you have the option to be better than most?” he asked.
