THE Inspector General of Police, Maj. Gen. Kale Kayihura, has deployed a team from the Criminal Investigation Department headquarters in Kampala to investigate the escalating murder cases in Kiruhura district.

Speaking at Kiruhura district headquarters on Friday, Kayihura said the team, led by David Magara, the CID deputy director, had been investigating murder cases in Masaka district.

Kayihura added that the team would work with local council leaders and security officers in the district.

Since the beginning of the year, 19 murder cases have been reported in the district but only nine suspects have been arrested.

Magara paraded the suspects before Kayihura, including a suspected serial killer, Moses Mujurizi, 26.

Mujurizi was arrested with his two wives and mother. The mother was suspected of trying to bribe a Police officer to get him out of prison.

Mujurizi is said to have murdered his father James Mugunga of Karoko village.

He is also suspected to have killed people in Lyantonde, Masaka, Rakai and Mbarara districts. He was allegedly found with pangas, axes and machetes smeared with blood.
