RUGBY Cranes flankers Joel Anguyo and Romano Ogwal are still doubtful for Saturday’s Elgon Cup fixture against Kenya at Kyadondo club.

Hima Impis star Ogwal and Uganda telecom Kobs’ Anguyo who carry knee injuries are in camp but will be subject to a fitness test today.

“They are in good shape and have been training but I will wait for the doctor’s approval before we enter residential camp on Friday,” Coach Yayiro Kasasa stated.

Kasasa tipped Ronald Mwisaka and Timothy Ddumba as the likely replacements in case Ogwal and Anguyo do not recover.

Kasasa said that Scot Olouch and Eric Butime can also be switched to the flanks if need arises.

The Ugandans who fell 30-22 in Nairobi a fortnight ago will be out to reclaim the trophy they last won in 2006.

Kasasa said he would address the kicking deficiency which denied them points that would have earned Cranes victory in Nairobi.

“I’m not comfortable with the kicking yet, but it is one area we are putting much emphasis before the game,” Kasasa noted.

Joel Kimuli, Anthony Kinene and Joel Anguyo are the Cranes kickers that need to improve on before the Saturday showdown.

The Cranes are sponsored by Western Union, UAP Insurance, Nile Special Lager, Vision Group, Broadband, DFCU Bank, G4 Security and uganda telecom.

* Internet service providers Broadband, have boosted the Cranes Elgon Cup campaign with a sh10m sponsorship.

“This is the beginning of a long lasting relationship with the rugby sport and I’m glad to say that we have contributed sh10m in cash to the Uganda Rugby Union to help them prepare the team,” company managing director Arvid Knutsen disclosed at a press briefing at the company offices in Kololo yesterday.

“I must admit that I have not been attending rugby but with speed, focus, determination and reliability of the players, just like Broadband company services, Uganda will emerge victors,” he added.

URU chairman William Blick said the sponsorship had covered the union’s budget.

“It’s only the players to focus on winning the trophy back,” Blick added.
