MUKONO-The Police have arrested a 56-year-old man suspected of attempting to kill his former wife. The district Police commander, Mark Ondong, said Paul Kakooza, a resident of Misenyi landing site in Koome sub-county, broke into Prossy Nalugwa’s house on August 16 and cut her several times with a panga. He accused her of having an affair. The two had split in April over domestic wrangles. Nalugwa is admitted at Mulago Hospital with serious injuries.

Councillors defy IGG order
LYANTONDE-Councillors have defied an order from the Inspector General of Government (IGG) to dismiss the entire district service commission chaired by Hajji Edris Mutaasa. The LC5 chief, Fred Kyamuzigita, on Friday said they will write to the IGG asking him to review his decision. The acting IGG, Raphael Bakku, ordered the dismissal of the entire service commission members, citing high levels of incompetence.
