KAMPALA - The Uganda Human Rights Commission has fixed September 11 for the hearing of a case in which a disabled passenger, Fred Mugerwa, sued the Uganda Taxi Operators and Drivers’ Association (UTODA) over harassment. Mugerwa said a taxi driver, Hussein Kabuye and his conductor, Dominic Mukiibi, denied him the right to public transport by blocking him from boarding their taxi because of his disability.

Rwandan held over fake dollars

KAMPALA - An accountant with a prominent bank in Rwanda was last Wednesday found with fake US dollars and chemicals used in making the currency. The fake money is allegedly supplied through finance institutions in Kampala and Kigali. Caesar Bavakure, 34, was arrested on Gaddafi Road in Old Kampala after a tip-off.
