KASESE-NOREMCO, the company constructing the hydropower dam in Bugoye sub-county, has laid off workers as construction of the 13-mega watts dam ends. According to Bugoye sub-county chairperson Aprunale Bwambale, the company announced the reduction in the work force at the beginning of September. He said the company had been employing 250 people. He challenged the affected people to find alternative sources of income.
Bodaboda riders arrested
HOIMA-The Police have arrested three bodaboda cyclists accused of aiding armed robbers. The regional Police spokesperson, Zurah Ganyana, said Johnson Businge, Erias Balijuka and Mulindwa, all residents of Buswekera in Busiisi sub-county transported four armed thugs from Hoima to Mpaija trading centre where they robbed tobacco farmers on Monday. One of the thugs was shot dead during the robbery.
