THE Police in Jinja are hunting for security guards attached to Securex, a private security company and an Orient Bank official, for stealing sh90m that was being transported to the bank’s Jinja branch in a bullion van.

The robbery took place on Circular road in Jinja town on Wednesday afternoon. The guards allegedly put the driver, James Erau at gun point and ordered him to divert it to a different direction.

The South Eastern regional Police commander, Christopher Kubai, said three people, including Erau, had been arrested in connection with the incident.

He identified the other two as Tom Esiagu and Allan Edema both guards with Securex.

Kubai said two other guards, Shamil Mugundo and another only identified as Kayera are still on the run.

The bullion van was abandoned at Haji Tarmack road with two rifles, Securex uniforms and a bullet proof jacket.
