UGANDA’S 2009 CAF Champions league and Confederations Cup representatives, URA and SC Villa respectively will confront each other in the Super Eight Cup final today with entirely different objectives.

Of course, winning the inaugural Cup competition would mean a lot for the two sides’ confidence ahead of an intriguing season.

To URA, today’s final is that kind of match where the tax collectors’ pre-season ‘Galactico’ hype of sweeping all before them (domestic and international) will be thoroughly tested.

That contradicts events at Villa Park, where Villa are still undergoing rejuvenation, particularly in attack, where the departures of Emma Okwi and Steven Bengo seem to have left some sort of mini-crisis.

In the run up to the final, Villa won their two previous cup games in sudden death shoot-outs (5-4 against Police) and (5-4 against Victors), damning situations that highlighted a lack of finishing instinct that would ideally have settled both games in normal time.

Villa will henceforth make the Nakivubo turf, with loads of questions being floated as to whether new arrivals Jonathan Aigbe and Simon Sserunkuuma are good enough to assume the responsibilities previously handled by Okwi and Bengo.

The most obvious player that should grab the opportunity with both hands is the enigma that is Sserunkuuma.

If allowed to express himself today, Sserunkuuma will bring the best out of Nigerian striker Jonathan Aigbe.
