ROOKIE Irene Nakalembe who has shaken established players in just her second season, has turned her gun on the KCB Mbarara Golf Open that tees off this morning.
Entebbe Golf Club’s Nakalembe who has chalked up several convincing wins on upcountry courses this season is certainly one of the favourites in the 18 holes tournament that has attracted over 70 golfers across the country and Kigali in Rwanda.
Nakalembe will face off with seasoned Jasper Kamukama and Jolly Karemera among others in the women’s event of the tournament that is now sponsored by KCB Bank.
The competition which was preceded by a golf clinic conducted by professionals will have the overall winner determined by the best net score.
Edwin Tumusiime, one of the organisers of the tournament said the course had been improved upon.
“The course is playable and I am certain our guests will enjoy their game.â€
